Silver Lake

Stocked several times a year by VA Department and Game, Silver Lake is home to sunfish, bass, trout, and carp.

Directions: From I-81 exit 245, go west on Port Republic Road. Go straight through the intersection with Main Street (Route 11). At the next light, turn left onto Route 42 (High Street). Go 3 miles south to Dayton. Turn right onto Eberly Road (Route 732), then right at stop sign onto Silver Lake Road. The mill will be on your left. (The described route follows the yellow line at right.)

Blue Hole (Natural Spring)

Directions: Swimming hole with gravel beach, picnic tables and swinging rope. Take N Route 42 about 12 miles to the town of Broadway. At Broadway take Route 259 West about 2 miles and take a left at the National Forest Recreation Area. At the end of the short gravel road.

Rocky Run ATV/OHV Trail

The trail is a loop of approx. 10 miles designated for the recreational, all-terrain vehicle rider. Riders will find challenges in the narrow and twisting portion connecting Second Mountain and Dictum Ridge, while others will find trail sections that are wide and inviting.

Directions: Travel west from Harrisonburg, VA Rt. 33 for approx. 10 miles. Turn right on Rt. 612 for approx. 4.5 miles. Turn left onto Forest Development Road (FDR) 72 at Gospel Hill Church. Follow FDR 72 for 5-6 miles and turn left on the trailhead access road for about one mile. (Users should be aware that FDR 72 is a single-lane road with limited turnouts, and is recommended for high clearance vehicles only.)
